Sheriff's office needs to focus on community

There’s an outdated approach to running a sheriff’s office, and a leading-edge approach that reflects modern best-practice policing.

The outdated approach focuses on obsolete notions of hierarchy, job descriptions, scheduling, territory and rules. From this perspective, the role of the sheriff’s office is to catch lawbreakers, run jails, transport prisoners and serve legal notices.
