First family arrives on Mount Desert Island

By Holly S. Anderson

Trenton — President Barack Obama and his family, including their dog Bo, arrived in Maine Friday a little after noon, having flown into the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton in separate aircraft. The canine Obama flew in one aircraft and the human Obamas in the other.

Bo arrived first, in a gleaming white, unmarked aircraft, accompanied by a handful of support staff, media and dignitaries. The first family's aircraft arrived a few minutes after Bo's flight was near empty of occupants.

Obamas to Visit Mount Desert Island

Washington, D.C. — President Barack Obama and his family will visit Maine next weekend, traveling to Mount Desert Island on Friday, July 16, and staying through Sunday, July 18, according to a press release from Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.

“What an honor that the Obama family has chosen Maine for vacation when they could have gone anywhere in the country," said Pingree. "I think the Obamas will really enjoy the quiet woods, beautiful coast, wonderful people and everything else that brings thousands of families here every year. Those of us lucky enough to live here know it’s the most beautiful place in the world and I’m glad we can share it with the first family.”
