Islesboro Town Manager Jeff Grossman until June 30, 2014

Islesboro — Islesboro selectmen voted Monday, Nov. 21 to extend the contract of Town Manager Jeff Grossman until June 30, 2014.

The contract also gives the manager a 5-percent raise, ups the town's contribution to his retirement from 5 to 10 percent — both retroactive to July 1, 2011 — and increases his vacation from three weeks to four weeks per year, with not more than one week to be taken in July and August.
Grossman, who previously served as town manager in Boothbay Harbor and South Berwick and city manager in Westbrook, was hired as Islesboro's town manager in November 2009.

Harden Elected Mayor

Well.....the council re-elected him.

He's a nice guy but if the residents voted he would have been voted out. He's a career politician.

Tax and spend and tax some more.

It'll be years before we see any Libertarian types. Until, tax, spend, tax and bonds.

Driver charged after car crashes into house

I saw the house yesterday....not good.

Owls Head — A 25-year-old Owls Head woman was arrested Saturday night after her car crashed into a house.
Haley Watkinson was charged with operating under the influence, according to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday night, Nov. 5.
The car was driving south on Ingraham Drive (Route 73) when Watkinson told police she looked down to find her cell phone and the vehicle crossed the road and into a ditch. The vehicle then struck a fire hydrant before striking a house located at the corner of Knowlton Avenue.
