Those damn selectmen always get in the way! :)
Islesboro — A month after his contract was extended, Islesboro town manager Jeff Grossman has resigned, apparent due to conflicts with the board of selectmen.
Speaking on Dec. 23, Grossman, who has served in the position since November 2009, pointed to problems he had working with a relatively new board, describing his decision to leave in the kind of terms people might typically reserve for divorces and other awkward separations.
"There were four new board members and the fit just didn't seem to be right," he said. "So I think it's best for both me and the town to move in the direction that's appropriate for each other."
Asked if the problem was related to personalities, Grossman called it "mainly a difference in management style and goals."
